Beard + Riser Architects PLLC has recently funded academic travel scholarships for students majoring in Architecture at Mississippi State University and Louisiana Tech University, through each of the university’s foundations.

Annual scholarships in the amount of $2,000 will be awarded at each university based upon academic standing and financial need as selected by the universities for use in established travel programs.

“John and I agree that one of the most educational things a young person can do is to travel, see other places, buildings and cultures.  Looking at photos in books is great, but architecture can only be understood by experiencing it, and we thought this would be a good opportunity for us to help students who otherwise may not get to experience these types of trips.  Neither John nor I would be where we are without the educations we received at the college level. This is a way for us to give back.”

Beard + Riser Architects, established in 2007, is a design-focused firm doing commercial and custom residential work, located in Greenwood, Mississippi. John Beard is a 1991 graduate of Mississippi State University. Dale Riser is a 1995 graduate of Louisiana Tech University.
