Mississippi Valley State has
an eye on the future
Itta Bena's 50-year-old institution looks at a job well
done, plans to do even better
As Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena approaches its
golden anniversary this summer, it has much to celebrate and much more
to look forward to.
"We feel we already have a good school and good programs," says university
President, Dr. Lester Newman. "Where we're going as an institution is moving
from excellence to pre-eminence, to be considered the premier regional
institution in Mississippi and, ultimately, one of the top regional institutions

The Blue Angels come to the Delta
One of the Southeast's most spectacular air shows is moving to the
Delta. Sky Parade, formerly hosted by the Jackson International Airport,
is moving to Greenwood. This October 20 through 22, Sky Parade will conduct
its first ever airshow at the Greenwood-Leflore Airport. The feature attraction
will be the Navy Flight Demonstration Team, The Blue Angels. Flying for
the first time in the Mississippi Delta, the "Blues" promise to deliver
the dazzling precision displays which have made them famous worldwide.

The John Richard Collection
The John Richard Company announces that it has signed an exclusive licensing
agreement with Harrods of Knightsbridge, the prestigious 150 year-old British
department store. The contract was signed last month by Mohammed
Al Fayed, Chairman of Harrods, and Jim Becker, Executive Vice President,
John Richard Company.
The collection, to be marketed as part of Harrods Fine Furniture
Collection, will be launched at the October 2000 International Home Furnishings
Market in High Point, NC. John Richard will develop a comprehensive
package of decorative accessories to complement the furniture programs
being put forth by Highland House and Thomasville Furniture Industries.
