A PRECARIOUS BALANCING ACT
Lately, I have been spending a good bit of time watching various talking heads debate whether or not we are in a recession. Well, I do not know about the rest of the country, but I think I can pretty quickly sum up the answer for the Delta. While I dont think anything done or not done locally has caused it; a fairly large number of plants have closed including Fruit of the Loom, Baldwin Piano, Cooper Nicholson and others.

Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville recently announced that Ray Humphreys has been named new Executive Director of the 268-bed facility that is the second largest hospital in North Mississippi.

Greenville airport undergoing many exciting changes
Airport set to become more passenger-friendly
Travelers choosing Greenvilles Mid-Delta Regional Airport are getting a lot of bang for their buck and with many improvements in the works that will continue to be the case says airport director, Cliff Nash.
There are several projects planned for 2001, but one of the most exciting is the construction of a new secure holding area with a jet bridge. This will allow passengers to walk out of the terminal to the new holding area, which is a large, glassed-in extension of the airport, to a jet bridge and directly onto the plane without ever being exposed to the weather.
