Cellular South has entered into an agreement
to acquire wireless assets from Alltel, including PCS licenses, in Mobile,
Alabama and Pensacola, Flordia. The company expects to receive FCC
approval by summer of 2000 and then will begin offering service.
In a related agreement, Cellular South
will also acquires Alltel's PCS license for the Ft. Walton Beach/Destin,
Flordia area. This agreement will enable Cellular South to expand
coverage to those areas at a later date. The acquisition marks a
major step in Cellular South's growth plans for future.
"This acquisition is meaningful for two
reasons. First, it expands our coverage for Cellular South's Mississippi
customers and secondly, it allows us to grow into new markets," said Hu
Meena, president of Cellular South. "Upon Complete build-out of the
newly acquired areas, Cellular South customers will be able to enjoy seamless
digital coverage on the Cellular South network along the I-10 corridor
from Bay St. Louis, Mississippi to Destin, Flordia. We pride ourselves
on understanding the needs of wireless customers and intend to take the
same great service we've offered in Mississippi on these new markets."
As one of the original wireless providers
in Mississippi, Cellular South is the largest provider of wireless service
in Mississippi. Cellular South, Headquartered in Jackson, Mississippi,
provides service to all of Mississippi's 82 counties and operates more
than 60 wireless retail locations throughout Mississippi. The company

solutions for those migrating toward landline replacement, pager replacement
or simply trying to reduce their monthly costs. The emergence of
the new Free Incoming Calls Plan makes Cellular South the first in Mississippi
to offer free unlimited, incoming calls. This is the latest in a
long list of firsts for the company.
