With a $30 million investment, Cellular South, one of the original
wireless providers in the state twelve years ago, has announced that they
will erect 100 wireless towers in Mississippi this year, a major network
expansion that will increase the company's total number of towers by approximately
65%. The company will now host the largest network of towers in Mississippi.
As the penetration rate of wireless continues to expand and
as the wireless industry continues to see an increase in wireless usage,
Cellular South wants to insure their customers will continue to have a
vast array of leading edge services and options available to them. "Mississippi
is home to Cellular South, so we understand what our customers want and
need in a wireless provider because our wants and needs are the same,"
said Hu Meena, president of Cellular South. "'This investment and network
expansion solidifies our Company's dedication to providing service that
caters solely to the needs of our customers in each and every corner of
our state and everywhere in between."
Cellular South is the largest provider of wireless service in
Mississippi. Cellular South, headquartered in Jackson, provides service
to all of Mississippi's 82 counties and operates more than 60 wireless
retail locations throughout the state. The company was recently named the
sole recipient of the 1999 Blue Chip Enterprise Award for Mississippi and,
in 1997, was Mississippi's first telecommunications company to receive
the Mississippi Quality Award for Excellence.
Cellular South's newest calling plan offers solutions for those
migrating toward landline replacement, pager replacement or simply trying
to reduce their monthly costs. The emergence of the new Free Incoming Calls
Plan makes Cellular South the first in the state to offer free unlimited,
incoming calls. This is the latest in a long list of firsts for the company.
