Photography exhibits at Delta Blues Museum in Clarksdale

B.B. King  With the Delta Blues Museum's move to #1 Blues Alley in Clarksdale, the museum is excited to have collections of  photographs by two nationally known photographers: The Blues Is A Feeling by James Fraher and The Blues Photographs of Raeburn Flerlage are now on display at the museum's new location.
The Blues Is A Feeling by James Fraher is an intimate glimpse into the eyes and soul of the blues, presenting fifty-five riveting black and white and duotone portraits of black American blues artists, and about as many excerpts of interviews with the subjects. This collection is remarkable, not only for the generous number and high quality of rare photos of lesser known artists and legends, on a "stage" where everyone is given equal billing, but also for its sensitivity and the apparent true affection and respect for the subjects. The photographic works of James Fraher have been published in newspapers, books and magazines, and on many record and CD covers. The Blues is a Feeling has toured galleries in the United States and Ireland since first opening in 1990 at The Chicago Cultural Center. James Fraher holds a BA in photography and an MA in media communications. He has been a photographer and photography professor for over twenty years.
The Blues Photography of Raeburn Flerlage is an exhibit of 50 black and white photographs that make up a historic documentation of a unique period of time in American blues music from 1959-1973. Photograph's illustrate the who's who in American blues, including Little Walter, Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, John Lee Hooker and Son House. Ray Flerlage's work has appeared in many publications, books, record covers, blues music displays and numerous television documentaries. Spending his entire career close to music as a writer and music reviewer, music organizer, radio host, record wholesaler and photographer, Flerlage's photographs mark the first time a complete one-person exhibit of these historic photographs have been assembled. This exhibit is a fitting tribute to an artist who seeks to honor musicians as artists through photography.
The Blues Is A Feeling by James Fraher and The Blues Photographs of Raeburn Flerlage are presently on display at the the Delta Blues Museum. Museum hours are Monday-Saturday 9-5.
