Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation recently announced the relocation of one of their manufacturing facilities to Greenwood, MS. The new facility will manufacture high quality power tools and accessories. The opening of the facility will create 200 new jobs.
According to Daniel Pery, President and CEO of Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation, Milwaukee Electric Tool has a long history of employment in Mississippi, with our first plant outside of Brookfield opening in Jackson in 1973. This was followed by a distribution center in Olive Branch in 1979, followed by another manufacturing plant in Kosciusko in 1995. Our experience in Mississippi has been very good. The work ethic and quality of work of our Mississippi employees is excellent.
In addition, the State of Mississippi offers a comprehensive industrial training program at their community colleges, and we have used it for all of our Mississippi locations, Pery says.
The Advantage Mississippi Initiative played a key role in Milwaukees decision to relocate to Greenwood. As a result of Advantage Mississippis Growth and Prosperity (GAP) Program, the city of Greenwood and Leflore County were able to make their location attractive to the company. The GAP Program is designed for designating eligible counties and municipalities as GAP counties and making incentives available to private companies that locate or expand in those economically challenged areas.
With the Advantage Mississippi Initiative, the state of Mississippi is able to offer companies the resources they need and want when selecting a location. Milwaukee Electric Tools is committed to their investment in Mississippi and the state is dedicated to building long-term, pro-business environment. That adds up another success story that impacts the lives of our citizens, says Governor Ronnie Musgrove.
