High Cotton? Not Hardly
A few years ago from around 1994 to 1997, Delta cotton planters enjoyed perhaps the best of all worlds: Good yields, record demand, and the best prices since the Cicil War. Profits soared, real estate values hit all-time records, and farm debt dropped to a decade low level.
Students embarking on their college careers at Delta State this fall will be following a tradition that is three quarters of a century old. According to Dr. Wayne Blansett, Vice President of Student Affairs, who is heading the 75th Anniversary Committee, September 27, 2000 mark the beginning of a year-long celebration filled with a myriad of activities designed to focus campus and community attention on this very special birthday.
The residents of Batesville know they have something special going on. It's a town with a quaint, laid-back approach, where folks all know each other and share a hardy "Hello" when they pass in the street. It's also a town with some of the most innovative, and unusual, businesses in the region.
