Delta State University and Coahoma Community College name Lois B. McMurchy executive director of the Coahoma County Higher Education Center. The center is a partnership between the two institutions and Coahoma County .
McMurchy lives in Duncan and was formally the Executive Director of the Workforce Development Center in Clarksdale , MS . She has also served as an elementary school principal and teacher at Lee Academy .
McMurchy received her Bachelors of Arts in Education from the University of Mississippi . She received Master of Education degrees in both Elementary Education and Administration from Delta State .
As Executive Director, McMurchy will oversee programming, operations, maintenance and marketing of the center.
The Coahoma County Higher Education Center was founded three years ago. The campus is located in Clarksdale at the site of the former St. Elizabeth's School and Cutrer House. Classes were first offered at the site in fall 2002. The facilities are currently being renovated with the first phase to be completed this spring.
McMurchy will begin her duties as director of the facility on April 1. DBJ
