Mitchell Distributing opens state-of-the-art warehouse facility in Leland

Mitchell Distributing has a new home! The company moved from its old location on Main Street in Greenville, to its new state-of-the-art facility on Hwy. 82 East in Leland on May 3, 2004.

The new 50,000 square foot facility boasts modern security systems, wireless network technologies, controlled environment warehouse capabilities, advanced media functions, and is designed according to the strict guidelines of Anheuser-Busch.

Manny Mitchell, owner of Mitchell Distributing, is very pleased with the transition that the company made to the new facility and looks forward to the future.

“We have a comprehensive agenda for Mitchell Distributing in this area, and the new facility will enable us to accomplish our goals. It will help us better serve our customers, while promoting economic development in the area,” said Mitchell.

Mitchell said that the property on Hwy. 82 East was chosen because of its visibility and central location to the company’s distribution area.

The Leland facility is controlled and monitored by surveillance cameras and a security server that digitally records movement within ranges of programmed acceptable limits. When the computer detects unwarranted movement, it automatically telephones local law enforcement and designated individuals to respond.

The entire facility is networked with wireless and cable technologies. Each office is supported for full media capabilities, including Anheuser-Busch satellite network.

The 50,000 square foot facility includes a Controlled Environment Warehouse (CEW) and has fully interactive smart technology monitoring and control capabilities based on Anheuser-Busch protocols for total network integration.

One of the especially interesting features of the new warehouse is the Hospitality Room, which is supported by a modern media system. It includes theatre quality video and sound capabilities, as well as accommodations for CD, DVD, VCR, Digital Satellite Television, and several computer input/output formats. Eventually, Mitchell Distributing hopes to offer the conference room to local businesses, civic groups, and organizations in the area for meetings, receptions and presentations.

As if a new warehouse facility was not change enough, Mitchell Distributing has experienced an important management realignment in the past few months. Lisa Cowart was named General Manager Oct. 1, 2003 and Equity Manager April 1, 2004.

Cowart worked as Special Events & Marketing Coordinator at Mitchell Distributing in Meridian for 17 years before transferring to Greenville in January 2003 as Marketing Manager. She now oversees the day-to-day operations at Mitchell Distributing, including delivery, warehouse, sales and administration.  Cowart serves as the Territory Manager for Cleveland and Indianola salesmen.

Cowart lives in Indianola with her husband, Mark, and their 2 children, Jackson and Alison. She attends Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Indianola. Cowart graduated from the University of Alabama in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce and Business Administration. While attending the University of Alabama, she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority.

Mitchell Distributing is an Anheuser-Busch wholesaler operating in Meridian and Greenville, Mississippi.
