End in sight in Iraq?
The recent deaths of Saddam Hussein’s sons, Odai and Qusai, at the hands of U.S. troops should be seen as a positive development in “Operation Iraqi Freedom” and the overall War on Terror. These two monsters alone were responsible for much carnage, murder and rape of their own people and were also the alleged instigators of recent attack on American troops. Certainly we cannot rest until Hussein, bin Laden and other such terror leaders are captured or killed. But perhaps the death of these two terror kingpins will help restore some semblance of order in Iraq, thus quickening the withdrawal of our troops. DBJ

ITC ruling good for catfish industry
The recent ruling by the International Trade Commission, which stated that the American catfish industry has been significantly harmed by exporters of Vietnamese fish, is an excellent one. The U.S. Department of Commerce, which imposed tariffs in June, ruled that Vietnamese exporters had dumped catfish on the American market at unfairly low prices and the ITC concurred, giving the final verdict. Our own catfish farmers in America were hurt badly—losing some 20 percent of a $590 million market—by the Vietnamese catfish, called Basa. Now, the Vietnamese are crying “foul!” over what they are claiming is unfair trade practice. To that, we at the DBJ say “Tough Phenom Phen!” A communist country invoking free trade principles to hurt our Delta farmers is a total joke. DBJ

Transgender surgery for convicts? Oh boy/girl, what next?
We don’t know how many of our readers saw the coverage of the New York State convict who has gone to court to demand that taxpayers provide him with a sex change operation. His reasoning is that he is a woman trapped in a man’s body and wants to be transferred to serve out his sentence in the women’s prison.

The fact that the presiding judge didn’t throw out the suit as frivolous gives us some indication of the IQ of the judge himself. If it weren’t for the expense of a lawsuit to the taxpayers, this kind of farce would be highly amusing. Maybe everyone who doesn’t have health insurance should commit a crime (carefully estimated as to the length of the sentence) and go to prison just long enough to get all of their health care needs paid for by the state.
