Elections
will be interesting
Here at the DBJ, we are already looking forward to the upcoming
November elections and all of the fireworks sure to blow
beforehand. There are a number of “hot button”
issues to be debated and, for the first time in years, there
seems to be some sharp ideological lines that have been
drawn. We hope, for the sake of the state, that these lines
won’t be crossed too brazenly or offensively. Mississippi
stands to gain from healthy debate and responsible democracy
as new, and incumbent, candidates feverishly prepare to
get our attention—and our votes. Hopefully the politicking
will be constructive instead of petty. DBJ
Preparation
for war
War is coming. This is an inevitable fact that we al must
learn to live with. The key now is for us not to panic,
but try to be calm and prepared for whatever might lie ahead.
Our adversaries in this war are devious, unscrupulous and
barbaric, unlike any evil we have yet to face. These facts
only make the future that much more uncertain. Yet, we as
Americans must resolve to keep our heads up, carry on in
our lives and businesses the best we can and hope for a
quick victory. DBJ
Thank
goodness some countries still have sense
We at DBJ want to point out that despite the liberal media
claiming that the world is against us in our plans to disarm
Iraq, that same media is basing its opinions on countries
with specific agendas and a whole bunch of people who love
to march against almost anything rational. These countries
and people are in a very small minority.
We have been touched by the responses of Spain, Rumania,
and the other fourteen European and Eastern European countries
who have spoken out about the horrors of living under a
dictator who terrorizes not only his neighbors but his own
citizenry. We have listened to the deafening silence of
the many nations who want us to take out Saddam Hussein,
but for political reasons have trouble saying so out loud.
The world is not against us. They are waiting to see if
President Bush, like Clinton before him, will let a little
political opposition break his will. They are waiting, in
short, for a leader. Then they will fall into step and we
may eventually win the war on terrorism. DBJ
