OPINION:
Greenville
native making big in country music
Greenville
native Steve Azar is making a name for himself in the
country music industry and we at the DBJ salute his
success. The music business is one tough business and
although AzarÕs name is moving to the front of
the charts, the real tale will be told after his next
album. As the saying goes, Òyou are only as good
as your last record...Ó is true in the business.
Azar must have another big album or he will be a has-been
over night. ThatÕs just how it is. If this young
Delta musicianÕs second album is as big as his
first, he will be on the way. We at the DBJ hope that
this next album reaches is a blockbuster. |
The
War in Iraq
Many
Delta natives, and Delta residents are serving in the
war in Iraq at this very moment. We at the DBJ wish
them complete safety while they are over there and we
wish them also a safe return. War is an awful thing,
but necessary to insure that in the end we all live
in a safe and secure world. We at the DBJ continue to
be amazed at the stupidity that the Hollywood elite
display pertaining to this war. Perhaps this group should
revisit the history of Germany and that region while
Hitler was in power in order to gain a better understanding
of why the war with Iraq must take place right now.
Where would this world be today if the U.S. had not
stepped in to stop Hitler? England could not accomplish
this, and France, well, France has never won a war.
Our country is right to proceed with the war in Iraq
in order to insure a safe world for our children tomorrow
and Hollywood should shut their emotionally-shaky mouths
and be respectful of our men and women serving their
country over there and also be respectful of our solderÕs
families who remain here. |
DSU
presidential search
We
at the DBJ are hoping that the DSU search for a new
president will come to a conclusion soon rather than
being drawn out like Mississippi State University experienced
during their search for a president not that long ago.
Why? Because the Cleveland community is extremely, if
not all dependent on Delta State University - if DSU
moves forward, Cleveland does also. If DSU slips, so
to will Cleveland. DSU needs to select a president who
possess more entrepreneurial skills than academic. DSU
has so many possibilities, but that school will need
a leader who can make rapid decisions and hold the line.
Dr. David Potter set a course for this kind of thinking.
DSU must continue in this direction for the sake of
that school and for the sake of the Cleveland community. |
